The Spokane River Rowing Association (SRRA) is a volunteer-run, nonprofit rowing organization serving the Inland Northwest. We bring people together on the water — youth, adults, and adaptive athletes — to build skills, confidence, and community through rowing.
Whether you’re brand new to the sport or returning to rowing, SRRA is about connection—to teammates and to a shared love of being on the water.
SRRA provides accessible, community-powered rowing opportunities for youth, adults, and adaptive athletes — fostering teamwork, personal growth, and lifelong connections to rowing.
* Volunteer-powered and community supported
* Inclusive by design, with adaptive rowing as a core offering
* Strong emphasis on safety, coaching, and sportsmanship
* Open to all experience levels — no prior rowing experience required
* A culture of giving back through coaching, mentoring, and leadership
Spokane River Rowing Association is proud to mark a major milestone: our first full-time coach. Coach Riley Brooks comes to SRRA from the Rose City Rowing Club in Portland, OR, where she was head coach for middle school rowers and assistant coach for the varsity team. She has over four years of comprehensive experience in youth rowing programs, progressing from Learn-to-Row through competitive varsity teams.
As a volunteer-driven organization, this step signals growth and long-term sustainability. Having a full-time coach allows us to offer greater consistency, mentorship, and program stability, while continuing to rely on the passion and commitment of our volunteers. It’s an exciting step forward as we build a strong future for rowing in our community.
The Spokane River Rowing Association is a nonprofit, volunteer-run organization governed by a Board of Directors. Our programs are supported by trained volunteer coaches, safety launch drivers, and community members who donate their time and expertise to keep rowing accessible and safe.
SRRA is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants. We follow SafeSport principles, maintain safety protocols on and off the water, and expect all members to uphold our community standards.
SRRA is a volunteer-run organization with a strong belief in the future of rowing in the greater Spokane area. We are currently completing a strategic plan that will guide our next phase of growth.
Our long-term vision includes:
* Expanding access to rowing for youth and adults who may not otherwise have the resources or exposure to the sport
* Growing the organization sustainably to support the eventual hiring of an Executive Director
* Securing a permanent rowing venue on the Spokane River, ideally in the Millwood area, offering a central location and some of the best rowing water in the Inland Northwest
Like many rowing clubs, we also dream of a boathouse near the water — a place to safely store equipment, provide winter training opportunities, and serve as a hub for community rowing and other non-motorized water activities.
Whether you’re interested in learning to row, returning to the sport, volunteering, or supporting SRRA’s growth, we’d love to connect with you. Explore our programs, learn more about rowing, or reach out to get involved.
